Mariner Bay was founded in 2007 by Captain James Reilly after twenty years working corporate charter for fleets that treated boats like rental cars. The promise was simple: a small fleet kept in proper condition, captained by people who actually own the time on the water with you.
We operate four vessels out of Newport, Rhode Island. Two motor yachts, a sailing yacht, and a center-console for half-day runs. We don't charter boats we don't keep year-round, and we don't ramp up to twenty boats every July just to ramp back down again.
Every captain in our rotation is USCG-licensed with at least 1,000 days of charter experience. Mates are trained in galley service, line handling, and the kind of small attentions that make a charter day feel like a private one — refilling a coffee before you ask, knowing when to leave the cockpit and when to stay.
We provision through Newport's small grocers and a relationship with Black Pearl Catering. Wines are picked by Annette Lefebvre, who runs the cellar at the Marina House restaurant. If you want something specific, send us the menu and we'll source it.
